Protect the Shawmut Hills neighborhood from reckless development
Stop Bad Development on Seventh Street NW
A team of developers wants to build dozens of townhomes on a 5-acre lot at 2450 7th Street NW in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This lot sits in the heart of the Shawmut Hills neighborhood, a low-density community of single-family homes on Grand Rapids’ West Side.
The project, led by Walmart lobbyist and aspiring developer Adam Rogalski, is overwhelmingly opposed in its current form by locals, because it will irreparably alter the character of our community—negatively impacting traffic, pedestrian safety, drainage, and green space.
Contact the City Planning Commission
Let the Planning Commission know you oppose the proposed development at 2450 7th Street NW. The more of us they hear from, the harder we’ll be to ignore.

Why We Oppose the Proposed Development
We’re part of a growing city. We know Grand Rapids needs more housing, and every neighborhood has a part to play. At the same time, every solution should be compatible with the existing neighborhood.
The development proposed for 2450 7th Street NW does not meet this standard.
As residents of Shawmut Hills—many of whom have called this place home for decades—we want developers to submit a plan that:
Preserves the character of our low-density neighborhood
Mitigates adverse impacts to traffic and pedestrian safety
Conserves green space and protect area wetlands
Addresses longstanding water and drainage issues linked to this property
We want responsible development that preserves our neighborhood character and protects our homes.
